Michelle S. K. Oishi graduated from Occidental College in 1992 (Magna Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Mathematics.  She received a teaching certificate from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Secondary Science Education in 1997, and after teaching for several years returned to the University of Hawaii to pursue her legal education.  While in law school, Michelle was a member of the Hawaii Law Review and went on to serve as Executive Editor of the Law Review.  She also received awards for excellence in two writing classes as well as in Wills and Trusts.  Michelle graduated in 2002 with the second highest grade point average in her class, while also earning an Environmental Law Certificate.  She then went on to clerk for the Honorable Judge Greg Nakamura before beginning her legal career.  Michelle is currently a member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Hawaii State Bar, as well as a member of the Hawaii County Bar Association.

Michelle spends most of her time caring for her two energetic daughters and is very thankful that her firefighter husband does all of the cooking, even if he does it mostly to keep her out of his kitchen.  She also enjoys playing tennis and continues to play in the competitive adult leagues.
